Imagining a discussion between a “Parent No.1” and a child

CHILD:  Daddy 1, how are children made?

PARENT 1: With love, my child.

CHILD:  You mean, if I love my friend Sally and my friend Joe at school and we hang out, will we make children?

PARENT 1: Oh no, my child. You don't make a child like that.

CHILD: How then?  How did I get here? Where did you get me from?  How did you make me ?

PARENT1: You were made from the union of an egg and a sperm.

CHILD:  And what are these? Where does one find them – are they available at the supermarket?  If they are sold there, I will go and buy them and make a baby with my friends.

PARENT 1: No, the supermarket doesn't provide them. They are found inside people's bodies...

CHILD: Aaah... so you and Daddy 2 have both of these inside your body?

PARENT 1: Me and Daddy 2 only have sperm in our bodies, son....

CHILD: .....oh..... yeah.... right... But just now you said that I was made by the union of a sperm and an...egg – correct???

PARENT 1: Yes,  correct...

CHILD: Yes but..... if neither you nor Daddy 2 has an egg.... in which person did you find it?? Who gave it to you?  Was it from your neighbor Bob? You went and asked him for an egg, just like you ask him for some sugar???

PARENT 1: No, my child, we got it from a woman.

CHILD: Didn't you say you get an egg from a human? Don’t all people have both eggs and sperms??

PARENT 1: No....There are two kinds of people..... Those who have the eggs and we call them women and those who have the sperm and we call them men.

CHILD: And who is this woman who gave you her egg and I became me???

PARENT 1: Well, we don't know her...

CHILD: So I came from this woman's egg...?

PARENT 1: Yes, from her egg and Daddy 2's sperm.

CHILD: So, that means you, Daddy 1, didn't give anything to make me?

PARENT 1: No...

CHILD: So, if I wasn't made by you.... why do I call you Daddy??

PARENT 1 : Because I'm raising you together with Daddy 2 and we both love you!!!

CHILD:   Well Daddy 1, could we bring home your friend Mark who also loves me a lot, and I can call him Daddy 3??

PARENT 1: No, my child, that’s not possible!

CHILD: Why not???  Why are you the only ones who decide for me??  I want Mark also !...... Anyway, I want to ask something else now.... After this union of sperm and egg took place, where was I, and where did you finally get me from??

PARENT 1: .......You were inside a woman's womb  - planted inside her “uterus” and growing inside it for 9 months.

CHILD: Ahh.... I get it !!  Inside the body of the woman who gave you the egg - right??

PARENT 1: No, my child inside the womb of another woman -  who had agreed to insert you in her womb and let you grow inside it, so that we could eventually acquire you from her...

CHILD: So, you are telling me that for me to become me... it required Daddy 2's sperm , the egg of woman 1, and the uterus of woman 2 ...RIGHT???

PARENT 1: .....right...

CHILD: You didn't give anything from your body to create me.... So why do I call you Dad??

PARENT 1: Because I'm raising you.

CHILD: Yes, but if it weren't for these two women.... I wouldn't exist at all!!   So, for me to become existent, it didn't actually involve any  love...

PARENT 1: Yes... without them, you wouldn't have existed....

CHILD: If we had lived together with them too, would I call them Daddy 3 and 4??

PARENT 1: No, my child....you would call them "Mommy"....

CHILD:  Mommy 1 and Mommy 2?

PARENT 1: Yes

CHILD: But I was made from Daddy 2's sperm and Mommy 1’s egg.....  

So why aren't those two my “Parents”??  

And why aren't they together??

And why can't I have a Mommy??  

And why don't I know her??

And why doesn't she know me??

And why did she abandon me??

PARENT 1: Because Daddy 2 and I are together, and we love each other...

CHILD: And for you to be together and to  love each other,  I was deprived of my Mom and also deprived of ever saying “Mommy”?   Then you don't love ME..... You only love what YOU want.....
