News Report,  26/1/2012.

Yesterday, Wednesday the 25th of January 2012, Hieromonk Basil (Nassar), left his last breath in the crossfire of armed groups in Hama, Syria.

In a communication that Romfea.gr had with a clergyman of the Patriarchate of Antioch, we were informed that Fr. Basil was shot while ministering to a brother.

Specifically, Fr. Basil had received a telephone call to help a faithful from Hama, who had been wounded by the fire of armed groups.

The moment that Fr. Basil arrived at the place and was providing first aid to the wounded man, a bullet struck him, passing through his right armpit and into his chest.

Immediately, another Priest who was with him dragged him, drenched in blood, to a building nearby in an attempt to save him.

However, the martyr of Christ Fr. Basil, died of hemorrhaging, 30 minutes later.

It should be mentioned that his funeral will take place today, Thursday, 26th of January 2012, in the Sacred Church of Saint George in Hama.

The reposed Fr. Basil was born in 1982, and was a Graduate of the Balamand School of Theology.

Finally, a Facebook group has been created in which it is mentioned that Fr. Basil is a Martyr of Christ.
