Kolwezi is in the Holy Diocese of Katanga under the Patriarchate of Alexandria and All Africa. It is served by monks from the Holy Monastery of Gregoriou on Mount Athos. This is a very active Orthodox diocese, with 105 parishes, 40 priests and over 2000 youth attending its ecclesiastical schools, and its own ecclesiastical radio station among other things.
