Can the devil work miracles? |
The answer is yes - and he can in fact perform the most amazing miracles. He can even dazzle humans with what he is able to accomplish. Sometimes his miracles seem so beneficial, that human rationale cannot perceive their fakeness.
But before
you imagine that we are exaggerating, we should remind
everyone that the devil is able to even transform himself
into an angel of light, as mentioned by the Apostle Paul in
2 Corinthians 11:14: “And
do not wonder; for Satan himself transforms into an angel of
light”.
His aim is
always to mislead. His aim is never to be beneficial.
So, his miracles are
far from true miracles.
In
Mathew’s gospel we read that the antichrist will perform so
many miracles that they will dazzle everyone and might even
mislead the ones who have been careful in matters of faith
all their lives. “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders
to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”
(Matthew 24:24).
He will even perform such a
convincingly true resurrection that there will be no room
for doubt. It will be the most impressive incident of
deception worldwide.
We should
be aware of the fact that a miracle is not always a suitable
guide for showing us the truth. A miracle has the power to
show us the right way, but it can also have the power to
mislead us. We must be very careful. Remember when the
Pharaoh commanded Moses to perform miracles in front of him
and his sorcerers were able to repeat them? Because of that
repetition, the Pharaoh was not convinced that Moses was
indeed an emissary from God. He merely imagined that Moses
had the same evil powers as his sorcerers. His malice did
not allow him to realize the difference, which was a very
striking one. Pharaoh’s
sorcerers were not able to reverse their miracle and return
things to their original state - something that Moses was
able to do, after them. The sorcerers’ catastrophic actions
left the situations irreparable. If a miracle is a genuine one, there will be certain indisputable facts that discern it. It will have taken place in the name, and for the glory, of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, while its result will always be for the salvation of the believers and the growth of the Church. A genuine miracle is never one that is intended to satisfy a person’s curiosity or their appetite for entertainment... (is this proof enough for you, that the Ouija Board or any other, similar “games” are demonic?) They may seem realistic, but they lack any seriousness and edification.
